Polaris: The “Poulenc Project” is a multidisciplinary queer collage featuring poetry, song, and Poulenc’s Trio for oboe, bassoon, and piano. The “Poulenc Project” traverses through the creation, formation, and actualization of the ego, representing the internal processing of gender transition. The project centers this internal process as a universal human experience, and then introduces the context of the queer experience, calling for connection and liberation. It is this project’s mission to bring forth the creativity, strength, and humanity found in the LGBTQ+ community, and in doing so bridging the worlds of classical music and the queer community together.
